About
Two Color Guard Station is a historic cabin rental nestled along the Wild and Scenic Eagle Creek below the Eagle Cap Wilderness in Oregon's Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The Civilian Conservation Corps originally constructed the guard station in the 1930s as crew quarters; the current building dates to 1959. At 4,830 feet elevation, the cabin offers spectacular mountain views and access to crystal-clear waters with rainbow trout fishing just 150 feet from the front door. The cabin comfortably accommodates up to 12 people with furnished beds, table, chairs, and couches. It is equipped with propane lights, cook stove, oven, heating stove, and refrigerator, along with cookware, place settings, and utensils. A vault toilet is located outside. Guests must bring all drinking, cooking, and washing water as none is available on site. All trash must be packed out. A horse corral is available for equestrian visitors. The Main Eagle Trailhead, the southern portal into the Eagle Cap Wilderness, is 2 miles away and open to hikers and horseback riders. Forest Road 7755 provides groomed snowmobile access during winter, with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing also popular. Late-season guests should be prepared for potential road closures due to snow.
