The campground is set back off Highway 89 among mature stands of Engelmann spruce, white pines, and aspens, providing plentiful shade throughout the sites. This scenic area is particularly renowned for its spectacular summer wildflower displays, with colorful profusions of geraniums, Indian paintbrush, columbine, lupine, daisies, and mountain sunflowers stretching across meadows and throughout the campground from approximately mid-July through mid-August.
The campground offers 9 single sites that accommodate up to 8 people each, with a 7-day stay limit during the operating season. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. The location provides an ideal base for outdoor recreation, with seemingly endless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, and hunting in the surrounding national forest. The campground is located near the Tony Grove Recreation Area, known for its alpine lake and trail system. Bear Lake, often called the Caribbean of the Rockies for its intense turquoise-blue water, is also accessible from the area.
