About
Lewis M. Turner Campground is a small Forest Service campground located 22 miles northeast of Logan, Utah, at an elevation of 5,900 feet within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The 10 single sites are set back from the highway in a shaded forest of Engelmann spruce, white pines, and aspens. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Flush restrooms are available during the open season.
The area is renowned for its vivid summer wildflowers. From approximately mid-July through mid-August, a colorful profusion of geraniums, paintbrush, columbine, lupine, daisies, and mountain sunflowers blankets the meadows and campground. Hiking, biking, climbing, fishing, and hunting opportunities abound in the surrounding forest.
Bear Lake, often called the Caribbean of the Rockies for its intense turquoise-blue water, is a popular nearby attraction offering boating, fishing, and water sports. The campground enforces a 7-day stay limit and requires all food and trash to be stored securely due to bear activity.
