About

Stone State Park sits atop the Loess Hills at the northern edge of Sioux City, providing scenic overlooks of three states from its ridgeline trails. The campground offers a mix of 10 standard electric sites with 20/30/50 amp hookups, 4 non-electric sites, 15 tent-only sites, one walk-to site, and a large youth group area. Three camping cabins with heating and air conditioning provide an alternative to tent or RV camping, though they lack sanitary facilities. A modern restroom building with flush toilets and showers serves the campground area, and water hydrants are located throughout. The park contains over 15 miles of trails. Mountain bikers have six miles of challenging singletrack, and equestrians share six miles of multi-use trails. Hikers can explore the full network, including routes to overlooks with views into Nebraska and South Dakota. The Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center at the park entrance offers exhibits on Loess Hills ecology and hosts educational programs year-round. Firewood is sold within the park and must be burned on-site to prevent spread of forest pests. Each campsite includes a fire ring with grate. Pets are welcome on leash. There is no dump station in the park; the nearest options are at the I-29 rest area south of Sioux City.

Directions

From I-29 in Sioux City, take Exit 151 (US-77/Singing Hills Blvd). Head north on US-77, then turn left onto Talbot Road. The park entrance is approximately 2 miles on the right at 5001 Talbot Road.
