The campground is open for the season. Showers, sinks, and flush toilets are not available due to flood damage; vault toilets are in use. Potable water, electric hookups, and dump station remain operational. Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance via Recreation.gov; sites within the 4-day window are first-come, first-served. Seasonal closure typically occurs in mid-October.

Leith Run Campground provides a scenic retreat on the Ohio River near Newport, Ohio, approximately 18 miles north of Marietta on State Route 7. The campground features grassy, shaded sites beneath a hardwood-pine forest canopy, with many sites offering waterfront views. Facilities include 18 standard electric sites, 3 tent-only non-electric sites, and 2 group picnic shelters with electricity. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. The campground provides access to the Ohio River's Willow Island Pool for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. A backwater estuary alongside the campground features a paved trail and boardwalk with a gazebo for wildlife viewing. The Scenic River Trail begins at the campground and climbs to a bluff above the river. Additional amenities include a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and playground. The Covered Bridge Scenic Byway passes nearby, offering views of forested hills, pastures, and four 19th-century covered bridges. Note that the boat ramp is permanently closed, and firewood from outside the area is prohibited.
