About

Hune Bridge Campground is a small, rustic facility in the Marietta Unit of Wayne National Forest, situated just below the historic Hune Covered Bridge on the Little Muskingum River. The four sites provide a quiet riverside setting along the National Forest Covered Bridge Scenic Byway (State Route 26). Beyond camping, the site serves as a popular canoe access point for paddling the Little Muskingum and the northern terminus of the 5-mile Covered Bridge Trail, which connects to the Rinard Covered Bridge and provides access to the North Country Trail. Mountain biking is permitted on the trail from April 15 onward. Fishing, wildlife viewing, and scenic photography opportunities abound. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets are provided but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Payment is cash or check only. The campground operates seasonally from early April through early January.

Directions

From Interstate 77, take Exit 1 (SR 7) toward Marietta. Turn right at Acme Street (first light), then right on Greene Street (SR 26). The campground is approximately 12 miles north of Lane Farm Campground. Due to the Hune Covered Bridge closure, access via Scottown Road (Twp Rd 35) crossing the Little Muskingum, then south on Smith Road (Twp Rd 408) to the campground.
