About
Leg Lake Campsites consists of two primitive dispersed campsites on the shores of 40-acre Leg Lake in the Hiawatha National Forest. Site 1 occupies a large semi-open area on the west side of the lake, accommodating up to 24 people and suitable for group camping or family gatherings with trailers. Site 2 is a small, secluded wooded spot on the east shore, best for a single family of up to 8 people. The lake offers good fishing opportunities for northern pike, largemouth bass, black crappies, bluegills, yellow perch, and bullheads. An unimproved boat access point adjacent to Site 2 accommodates small boats and trailers for day use. Swimming and berry picking round out the recreational options. These are rustic sites with minimal amenities. There is no potable water, and campers must pack out all trash. A primitive toilet is available at Site 1 only. Gasoline, groceries, fishing supplies, and ice are available approximately two miles south in the Thunder Lake area.
