About
Little Bass Lake Campsites is a small, rustic camping area tucked into the hardwood and pine forests of the Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The five lakefront sites sit along an 84-acre inland lake known for its diverse fishery, including largemouth bass, bluegills, northern pike, black crappie, and perch. A carry-in boat launch accommodates canoes, kayaks, and other non-motorized watercraft. This is a true backcountry-style camping experience with minimal amenities. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. A primitive toilet is available, but trash must be packed out. Campfires are permitted using only dead and down wood collected from the surrounding forest; outside firewood is prohibited to prevent the spread of invasive pests. Sites accommodate vehicles and trailers up to 20 feet. The campground appeals to those seeking solitude and a serene natural setting away from crowds. Gasoline, groceries, fishing supplies, and boat rentals are available in Steuben, approximately five miles northeast on County Road 437.
