About
Jackpine Lake Campsites offers a true backcountry camping experience on a 63-acre inland lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The two widely-spaced primitive sites provide excellent solitude and direct lake access for fishing, swimming, and small boat use. Site 1 perches on a hilltop with panoramic lake views and can accommodate groups up to 16 people with space for trailers. Site 2 is a smaller wooded site on the west shore best suited for a single family in a tent or small vehicle. The lake is stocked with smallmouth bass, bluegill, yellow perch, and bullheads. An unimproved boat launch on the south shore accommodates small lightweight craft for day use. Swimming is good at both sites with sandy, shallow entry. Berry picking is productive in season, and horse, bike, and hiking trails lie within a few miles. These are rustic sites with primitive pit toilets and no potable water, trash service, or hookups. Campers must bring their own drinking water and pack out all garbage. Dead and downed firewood may be collected from the surrounding forest. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov; walk-ins are not permitted. The 14-day stay limit applies, and campsites must be occupied the first night and cannot be left unattended more than 24 hours.
