About

Carr Lake Campsite offers a secluded, primitive camping experience on the shores of the 16-acre Carr Lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Situated within the Hiawatha National Forest, this dispersed campsite provides privacy and serenity in a hardwood and pine setting. The site measures approximately 70 by 40 feet, making it spacious enough for two families or groups of up to 16 people. Access to Carr Lake is by carry-in boat only, with a boat slide constructed for small watercraft like canoes and kayaks. The lake offers fishing for largemouth bass, yellow perch, northern pike, and occasional brook or brown trout. Carr Creek, both upstream and downstream from the lake, provides additional trout fishing opportunities. Swimming conditions are considered poor. This is a primitive site with a fire ring and picnic table but no potable water. Campers must pack out all trash. Firewood collection is limited to dead and down wood only; outside firewood is prohibited to prevent the spread of Emerald Ash Borer. Reservations are required and walk-ins are not permitted.
