Lake Wissota State Park campground is nestled in secluded wooded terrain northeast of Chippewa Falls, providing 116 family campsites along the shores of Lake Wissota, a 6,300-acre man-made reservoir on the Chippewa River. The campground offers 58 sites with electrical hookups and modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and a sanitary dump station. A large play area is centrally located within the campground loops, making it family-friendly. Beyond the campground, the park offers extensive recreational opportunities including miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails through diverse terrain. Visitors can enjoy swimming at the sandy beach, fishing from the pier or shoreline, and picnicking at various areas throughout the park. Two tent-only group sites accommodate up to 100 people each. The park's wooded setting includes stands of red pines planted in the 1950s-70s under a federal soil conservation program. Open year-round, Lake Wissota State Park provides opportunities for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling in winter months. The park operates on a reservation system for most of the year, though winter camping may be first-come, first-served. Firewood is available for purchase at the park office.
