About
Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park's group campground provides three distinct group camping areas designed for larger parties. Ojjig accommodates up to 50 people with 8 RV electric pedestals, while Maang (25 people, 4 electric pedestals) and Mooz (25 people) offer smaller group options. All sites include screened picnic shelters with electricity, council-style fire rings with grills, picnic tables, vault toilets, and potable water access. Wi-Fi coverage extends throughout the campground. The park combines Minnesota's mining heritage at the historic Soudan Underground Mine with the natural beauty of Lake Vermilion. Group campers can explore underground mine tours, hiking trails, and lake access. The Mesabi Trail connects the nearby towns of Soudan and Tower. The Vermilion Ridge Campground area is located approximately one mile east of Soudan on Highway 169 toward Ely. Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system online or by calling 866-857-2757. Pets are permitted but must remain leashed and attended at all times. Only approved firewood is allowed to prevent the spread of invasive species.
Directions
