About

The camper cabins at Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park provide modern year-round lodging in one of Minnesota's most scenic state parks. These eight cabins, opened in 2020, feature heat and electricity, making them ideal for winter getaways as well as summer adventures. Each cabin can accommodate up to six people and represents the latest style of camper cabin design from Minnesota State Parks. The cabins do not have running water, so guests should plan accordingly. Located within a 3,000-acre park that was established in 2010, the cabins provide easy access to the park's five miles of Lake Vermilion shoreline, old-growth pine forests, and extensive hiking trail system. The park also includes the historic Soudan Underground Mine, though mine tours have been suspended due to a 2024 weather event. With modern campgrounds, scenic overlooks like the Mattson-Vermilion View, and opportunities for boating and fishing on Lake Vermilion, the camper cabins serve as an excellent base for exploring northeastern Minnesota's natural beauty. The cabins are available for advance reservation through the Minnesota State Parks reservation system.
