About
Lake Jeanette Campground occupies a scenic granite rock peninsula extending into the island-studded, 638-acre Lake Jeanette in Minnesota's Superior National Forest. The Civilian Conservation Corps established a camp here in 1933, and over 200 young men built roads, trails, and planted trees that shaped the forest you see today. The campground sits in a mix of pine and spruce, offering views across the winding shoreline and numerous islands. The facility has 12 campsites: 10 drive-in sites (6 reservable, 4 first-come, first-served) and 2 walk-in tent sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate. Most sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 35 feet. Five additional dispersed backcountry campsites on the northern and eastern shores of the lake are accessible only by boat from the campground. The lake offers excellent canoeing and kayaking with its sheltered bays and islands. Fishing for walleye, northern pike, and perch is popular. Hikers can access the Astrid Lake Hiking Trail from the campground. Lake Jeanette also serves as a convenient staging area for Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness trips.
