Pfeiffer Lake Campground sits on the north shore of its namesake 57-acre lake in Superior National Forest's Aurora Area. The campground provides a peaceful base for anglers seeking panfish, bass, perch, and walleye, with access via a fishing dock and boat ramp. The facility includes 16 pull-in campsites suitable for tents and moderately sized RVs, though hookups are not available. The campground sits on sandy, rolling hills north of the Laurentian Divide, surrounded by mixed hardwoods, pine, and cedar forest. Many sites offer scenic lake views. Day-use facilities include a grassy swimming beach, picnic area with tables and grills, playground, and a 3-mile hiking trail. The lake's irregular shoreline makes it ideal for exploration by canoe or kayak. Two backcountry dispersed sites on the lake are accessible by boat or foot and remain open year-round. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with loons nesting on the lake and various birds and wildlife inhabiting the area. The campground operates with a host on-site near the entrance during the camping season.

Directions

From Virginia, Minnesota, take Highway 53/169 north for 4 miles, then Highway 169 north for 16 miles to the junction with Highway 1. Turn west on Highway 1 for 5 miles, then south on Forest Road 256 for 2 miles to the campground.
