About
Jeanette Lake Campground sits on a scenic peninsula reaching into the glacier-carved Lake Jeanette in Superior National Forest. Originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, this intimate campground retains its historic character while offering modern conveniences including vault toilets and potable water from a solar-powered well. The campground features 12 sites: 10 drive-in (6 reservable, 4 first-come-first-served) and 2 walk-in tent-only sites. An additional 6 dispersed backcountry sites are accessible only by boat. Sites are shaded by a pleasant mix of hardwoods, pine, and spruce, with glacial erratics scattered throughout lending character to the landscape. The winding shoreline and islands of the 638-acre lake make it ideal for canoe and kayak exploration. Anglers can pursue walleye, northern pike, and perch. The Astrid Lake Hiking Trail departs from the campground for those wanting to stretch their legs. Day trips to Voyageurs National Park, Crane Lake, and Vermillion Falls are also possible.
