About
Lake Guntersville State Park Campground is situated on the banks of Lake Guntersville, a 69,000-acre reservoir on the Tennessee River in northeast Alabama. The park encompasses over 6,000 acres of forested terrain and offers some of the best camping in the Tennessee Valley region. The campground features 282 improved campsites spread across multiple loops, accommodating everything from large RVs to tent campers. Site options include full hookup sites with 50/30 amp and 30 amp electrical service plus water and sewer connections, as well as water and electric tent sites. Primitive tent camping is available at the Town Creek area for those seeking a more rustic experience without hookups. Seven bathhouses serve the campground, with two offering laundry facilities. Additional amenities include a playground, splash pad, basketball and tennis courts, and an outdoor classroom. The campground store operates daily and stocks firewood, ice, snacks, beer and wine, fishing tackle with live bait, RV accessories, and camping supplies. The park offers excellent fishing opportunities on Lake Guntersville, known for its largemouth bass, as well as hiking trails including the accessible Bobo Trail. Eagle Awareness programs run on weekends from January through February when bald eagles winter on the lake.
