About

Cloudland Canyon State Park sits on the western edge of Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia, encompassing 3,538 acres of rugged terrain carved by Sitton Gulch Creek. The park features dramatic thousand-foot deep canyons, sandstone cliffs, wild caves, and two waterfalls that cascade over layers of sandstone and shale. The park is one of the largest and most scenic in Georgia's state park system. Recreation opportunities are extensive with 64 miles of hiking trails, including the popular Overlook Trail, strenuous Waterfalls Trail, and moderate West Rim Loop Trail. Mountain bikers have access to 30 miles of trails at the Five Points Recreation Area and along the Cloudland Connector Trail. Additional activities include disc golf, fishing in the park pond, horseback riding on 16 miles of trails, and cave tours by reservation. The park also offers geocaching, picnicking areas, and stunning overlooks of the canyon. Accommodation options cater to all camping styles. The park has two modern RV campgrounds (West Rim and East Rim) with 75 sites offering water and electricity, 30 walk-in tent sites providing exceptional privacy, 13 primitive backcountry campsites along a 2-mile loop, 10 yurts, 18 cottages near the canyon edge, 4 pioneer campsites, and a group lodge. The park features a gift shop and camper store with hiking sticks, camping supplies, and snacks.
