About

James H. Floyd State Park is one of Georgia's best-kept secrets, located in the geologically significant Ridge and Valley region of northwest Georgia. Surrounded by rural countryside and the Chattahoochee National Forest, this quiet 561-acre park offers outstanding fishing on two stocked lakes totaling 51 acres. The small campground features 24 tent, trailer, and RV campsites nestled on tree-covered hillsides, along with 4 backcountry campsites for a more primitive experience. The park's trail system includes three miles of lake loop trails and the popular Marble Mine Trail, which leads hikers to an old marble mine with a small waterfall. For long-distance hikers, the trailhead to the Pinhoti Trail is just 1.6 miles away. The park also features a boardwalk where visitors can feed ducks, an ADA-accessible fishing pier, two boat ramps (electric motors only), and pedal boat rentals. Children enjoy the playgrounds and exploring the natural beauty of this tranquil park. Named for Representative James H. "Sloppy" Floyd, who served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1953 to 1974, the park also offers four cottages, four picnic shelters, and a pioneer campground. With its combination of fishing, hiking, camping, and peaceful natural surroundings, James H. Floyd State Park provides an ideal getaway in the heart of northwest Georgia.
