About
Lake George Battleground Campground is a New York State DEC facility located just 1/4 mile south of the popular Lake George Village. Established in 1927, the campground has grown to include 68 tent and trailer sites, making it one of four DEC campgrounds operated on and around Lake George. The location offers an exceptional combination of natural beauty, historical significance, and convenient access to area attractions. The campground sits on the site of numerous colonial-era military activities, and visitors can explore the remains of these historic fortifications via a self-guided interpretive trail at the adjacent Battlefield Park. Modern amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, and a trailer dump station. Campers enjoy walking distance access to Lake George Beach Day-Use Facility for swimming and sunbathing. The surrounding area offers diverse recreational opportunities including boating and fishing on Lake George, hiking the 1.5-mile trail to the summit of Prospect Mountain, and exploring the scenic Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway. The campground's proximity to Lake George Village provides easy access to shopping, outlet malls, restaurants, theme parks, and theaters, making it ideal for families and those who want to balance outdoor recreation with village amenities.
