Special Weather Statement issued May 2 at 2:25PM EDT by NWS Albany NY
The combination of drying fine fuels, northwest wind gusts between 25 and 30 mph, and relative humidity values between 25 and 35 percent will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread Sunday afternoon for portions of the mid and upper Hudson Valley, eastern Catskills, Taconics and Greater Capital District regions in eastern New York. As a reminder, the annual statewide burn ban remains in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources such as machinery or matches and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website for more information on burn restrictions.

About
Located on the picturesque west shore of Lake George, Hearthstone Point Campground has been welcoming campers since May 1927. This popular New York State Department of Environmental Conservation facility spans 98.6 acres and offers 243 tent and trailer sites, making it one of four DEC campgrounds on and around the 32-mile-long Lake George. The campground provides modern amenities including hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, and a sand beach for swimming. Lake George offers excellent opportunities for boating and fishing, with lake trout, landlocked salmon, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and panfish present. All types of watercraft are permitted on the lake, though there is no boat launch at the campground itself. Just two miles north of Lake George Village, campers enjoy easy access to outlet shopping, restaurants, theme parks, historic sites, and nearby hiking trails including the Prospect Mountain trail with its 100-mile summit views spanning five states. The campground also offers a Junior Naturalist Program for children ages 5-13.
