About
Lake Creek Dispersed camping area consists of multiple primitive camping sites scattered along National Forest Road 246, adjacent to Lake Creek in the remote Burgdorf area of the Payette National Forest. Located approximately 31 miles north of McCall via Warren Wagon Road, then 2 miles north on Forest Road 246, this dispersed area offers a rustic camping experience for those seeking backcountry adventure. The area provides basic amenities including vault toilets, fire rings, and some tables at various sites along the creek. Lake Creek Dispersed is especially popular with ATV users and stock users, with numerous motorized and non-motorized trails nearby. The proximity to Burgdorf Hot Springs makes this a convenient base camp for exploring the area. Visitors can enjoy mountain biking, OHV riding, fishing in Lake Creek, and horseback riding. This area typically experiences warm days but cool nights due to its mountain location. Warren Wagon Road provides paved access for the first 30 miles from McCall before Forest Road 246 turns to gravel for the final approach. Winter access is limited to snowmobile only as Warren Wagon Road closes seasonally, typically from December through April.
