About

Lake Creek Dispersed Camping Area is a primitive camping destination in the Burgdorf area of Payette National Forest, situated along Forest Road #246. Unlike the nearby developed campgrounds at Burgdorf and Jeanette, Lake Creek offers dispersed camping with basic amenities including vault toilets, fire rings, and some picnic tables at various pull-offs along the forest road. The area attracts ATV enthusiasts and stock users, with trail access and proximity to the privately-owned Burgdorf Hot Springs. The Idaho Centennial Trail is also accessible from this area. Expect warm days and cool nights at this elevation. As with all dispersed camping in Payette National Forest, the stay limit is 14 days within any 30-day consecutive period. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply and plan to pack out all trash. The access road is gravel, and sites are best suited for smaller vehicles, though the dispersed nature means site sizes vary. The area is typically accessible when Warren Wagon Road and Forest Road #246 are clear of snow.

Directions

From McCall, travel approximately 31 miles north on paved Warren Wagon Road (Forest Road 21). Turn left onto gravel Forest Road #246 and continue about 2 miles. Dispersed sites are scattered along FR #246.
