About

Lake Carlos State Park Group Campground sits within 1,238 acres of glacially carved terrain featuring rolling hills, hardwood forests, and three lakes. The park includes both Pioneer Group Camp in the northeast corner with an open-sided shelter plus electricity and water, and Lakeview Group Camp on the west side of Lake Carlos accommodating up to 50 people in a tent-only setting surrounded by woods. Group camps provide basic amenities including picnic tables and fire rings with grills at each site, water access, and primitive vault toilets. Modern restroom and shower facilities are not available at the group camps. The park offers excellent recreational opportunities including a swimming beach, boat ramp suitable for large boats and pontoons, nine miles of horseback riding trails, and multiple hiking trails through maple-basswood forests. Reservations are available 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system. Pets are permitted when leashed and attended at all times. Only approved firewood may be burned to prevent the spread of invasive species.
