Lake Arrowhead State Park encompasses 524 acres along the shores of Lake Arrowhead, a 13,500-acre reservoir created in 1966 for the City of Wichita Falls. The landscape features rolling mesquite grasslands interspersed with cedar elm, hackberry, and cottonwood trees along the lakeshore. Wildlife includes white-tailed deer, coyotes, bobcats, and over 200 bird species. The park offers diverse camping options to suit different preferences. The main water/electric campground features eight loops with 48 sites equipped with 50-amp hookups, water connections, picnic tables, and fire rings. Four of these sites are pull-through. The 19 water-only sites provide a more rustic experience with picnic tables and nearby restroom facilities. Five primitive walk-in sites are located about 50 yards from facilities for those seeking a backcountry feel. Equestrian campers have four dedicated sites with corrals, tie rails, and covered stalls. Recreation centers on the lake, with opportunities for swimming at the sandy beach, fishing for channel catfish, largemouth bass, and crappie, and paddling. The park has 5 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. A disc golf course and geocaching add to the activities. The park headquarters offers loaner fishing poles, binoculars, and disc golf equipment.

Directions

From Wichita Falls, take US 281 south approximately 8 miles. Turn left (east) onto FM 1954 and continue about 6 miles to Park Road 63. Turn left and follow Park Road 63 to the park entrance.
