Chisholm Trail Ridge Park lies along the scenic shore of Waurika Lake in the Great Plains region of southern Oklahoma, named after the historic Chisholm Trail used to drive cattle from Texas ranches to Kansas railroads in the late 1800s. The campground features 95 sites, all equipped with electric hookups (30 and 50 amp options) and water connections. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 60 feet with both pull-through and back-in configurations on paved driveways. Waurika Lake encompasses 10,100 acres of water and provides excellent fishing for channel and flathead catfish, largemouth bass, white bass, hybrid striper, crappie, walleye, and sunfish. Approximately 6,040 acres of surrounding land are managed for hunting white-tailed deer, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, waterfowl, cottontail rabbits, and wild turkey. The campground includes a comfort station with showers and restrooms, dump station, playground, swimming areas, and an accessible dock and boat ramp. A park attendant is on duty from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The entrance gate is locked from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., though exit is available. Campfires must be contained in a fireplace or grill and elevated off the ground; ground fires are prohibited. Firewood must be purchased locally, and fires must be completely extinguished before departure.

Directions

From Waurika, Oklahoma, take Highway 5 northwest for 5 miles. Turn right onto Advent Road and proceed 3 miles. Turn left on Chisholm Trail Road and drive one mile to the park entrance.
