About

Doris Campground is the primary camping facility within Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, one of the oldest managed wildlife refuges in the U.S. The campground hugs the shoreline of Quanah Parker Lake, providing direct access to fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. The Little Baldly trail begins nearby, and Mount Scott's panoramic overlook is a short drive away. The refuge protects 60,000 acres of mixed grass prairie and ancient granite mountains that rise dramatically from the Oklahoma plains. Free-roaming herds of American bison, longhorn cattle, and Rocky Mountain elk share the landscape. Campers should maintain distance from all wildlife and be prepared for severe weather including extreme heat, high winds, and tornadoes. The campground offers 23 electric sites, 47 non-electric sites, 20 semi-primitive walk-in tent sites, and 3 group sites. A centrally located restroom and shower building serves the main loops, while vault toilets serve the outer loops and group areas. Water hydrants are distributed throughout the main camping areas. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill.
