Closed — Closed for the season. The campground typically operates from May through September for reservations, with first-come, first-served camping sometimes available through October. Park entrance gate is locked for security from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. when open.

About

Kiowa Park I lies along the scenic shore of Waurika Lake in the Great Plains Region of southern Oklahoma, about six miles northwest of the city of Waurika. The campground encompasses approximately 166 sites, all equipped with water and either 30-amp or 50-amp electric hookups, with both back-in and pull-through options available. Named after the historic Chisholm Trail used to transport cattle from Texas to Kansas in the late 1800s, this large facility includes two group campsites with picnic shelters on the waterfront that can each accommodate about 60 people. The campground offers extensive recreational opportunities on Waurika Lake's 10,100 acres of water. Anglers seek out channel and flathead catfish, largemouth bass, white bass, hybrid striper, crappie, walleye, and sunfish. Boaters and water skiers enjoy four large embayments and numerous smaller coves along the scenic shoreline. Approximately 6,040 acres surrounding the lake are managed for game, with hunting available for white-tailed deer, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, waterfowl, cottontail rabbits, and wild turkey. The campground features an accessible boat ramp and dock, playground, and swimming beach, all set among large shade trees with expansive lakefront views.

Directions

From Waurika, Oklahoma, take Highway 5 northwest for 8 miles. Turn right onto County Road 2750 N and proceed three miles to the park entrance.
