Kodachrome Basin State Park

Open — The park is open year-round. Basin Campground operates March 1 through December 1 and is currently closed for winter. Bryce View and Arch campgrounds remain open year-round. Reservations can be made up to 16 weeks in advance through Utah State Parks.

About

Kodachrome Basin State Park is a geological wonder featuring 67 monolithic sedimentary pipes rising from multi-hued sandstone layers that reveal 180 million years of history. Located at 5,800 feet elevation in Kane County, the park sits 20 miles southeast of Bryce Canyon National Park and offers three distinct campground options for visitors. Basin Campground is the main facility with 37 sites, including 15 full hookup sites with water, sewer, and electric. This campground features flush toilets, hot showers, a dish wash station, and easy walking access to popular trails like Angels Palace, Nature Trail, and Grand Parade. Bryce View Campground offers 11 sites with spectacular sunset views and vistas of Bryce Canyon's pink ledges in the distance, accommodating units up to 20 feet with vault toilets and water taps. Arch Campground provides 13 sites with water and electric hookups for RVs up to 35 feet, also with vault toilets. The park's unique stone spires and colorful rock formations provide excellent opportunities for hiking, photography, and dark sky viewing. With warm summers and mild winters, the landscape transforms dramatically with the seasons, offering year-round recreation for experienced campers seeking a distinctive southern Utah experience.

Directions

From Cannonville, Utah, drive south 9 miles on the paved Cottonwood Canyon Road. Turn left at the park entrance where the pavement ends. The campground is located past the visitor center.
