About
East Fork Designated Dispersed camping area is located along the scenic East Fork of the Sevier River corridor and FS Road 087 on the Powell Ranger District of Dixie National Forest. The area features 10 numbered, designated dispersed camping sites that provide free primitive camping in a beautiful ponderosa pine forest setting near Tropic Reservoir. Sites 1, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are designed for single camping units, while sites 2 through 6 can accommodate multiple units, making them suitable for larger groups. This designated dispersed camping area was established under Forest Order 0407-21-12 to protect soil, water, and vegetative resources while providing organized recreation opportunities. Camping is only permitted in these designated sites within the restricted area near the East Fork of the Sevier River and Tropic Reservoir. The area is located approximately 9 miles west of Bryce Canyon National Park along the East Fork Scenic Backway, offering easy access to nearby attractions. As a dispersed camping area, visitors must be completely self-contained. No amenities are provided, including water, restrooms, trash service, or utilities. Campers should bring their own firewood and practice Leave No Trace principles. The maximum stay is 16 days. This location provides an excellent base for exploring the surrounding forest, fishing in the East Fork of the Sevier River, and visiting nearby Bryce Canyon National Park.
Directions
From Highway 12 near Bryce Canyon City, take Forest Service Road 087 (East Fork Road) south along the East Fork of the Sevier River. The 10 designated dispersed sites are located along this road between Bryce Canyon City and Tropic Reservoir.
