About

Coyote Hollow Equestrian Campground sits at 7,880 feet elevation in a quiet ponderosa pine forest on the Paunsaugunt Plateau within Dixie National Forest. This intimate four-site campground provides direct access to Thunder Mountain Trail, a popular route for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Despite its equestrian designation, the campground welcomes all visitors regardless of whether they bring horses. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire pit, and tent pad. A vault toilet serves the campground. Non-potable water hydrants may be available from late May until the supply is exhausted in late summer or early fall, intended for horse use only. Potable drinking water is not available on site but can be obtained at the dump station at nearby Red Canyon Campground on SR 12. There is no trash service, so all garbage must be packed out. The campground typically opens in late April and closes in early October, operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. with no generators permitted during that time. Campfires are allowed in designated fire pits only, and dogs must remain on leash. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive days.
