Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 7:13AM EST by NWS Wilmington OH

7:13 AM — 12:00 PM

Snow showers associated with an arctic front are moving through this morning, providing a quick accumulation of snowfall. With wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph, the snow showers combined with blowing snow are reducing visibility and creating challenging travel conditions. These conditions are most impactful on roads that are more rural and are aligned from north to south. Even after the snow ends, elevated winds will continue to blow snow into the early afternoon. Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

About

Kiser Lake State Park is a 531-acre recreation area in west-central Ohio featuring a pristine 396-acre no-motor lake known for its clean, clear waters. The park's landscape was shaped by glaciers, creating rolling wooded hills formed by end moraines and unique wetland habitats including fen and wet meadow areas with rare plants like pitcher plant and sundew. The park offers multiple picnic shelters including Memorial Shelter, Lakeview Shelter, and Scenic Shelter, all available on a first-come, first-served basis. These day-use areas feature tables and grills but do not permit open fires. The lake is a sailing haven since motorized boats are prohibited, and the park provides a launch ramp, public docks, and boat rentals. A 600-foot swimming beach operates Memorial Day through Labor Day, and scuba diving is permitted outside the beach area. The family campground area features 115 non-electric campsites open year-round with picnic tables, fire rings, a trailer waste station, and vault toilets. Four hiking trails totaling 4.5 miles wind through the park, including the 1.5-mile North Bay Trail along the shoreline. The park also offers 10 miles of bridle trails and a group camp available by reservation. Two Rent-a-Camp units with tents and equipment can be rented during summer months.
