About
Buck Creek Shelters/Group Camp offers two covered picnic shelters for day-use rental at Buck Creek State Park along the shores of C.J. Brown Reservoir. The Hickory Knoll Shelter provides 1046 square feet of covered space while the larger Oak Grove Shelter offers 1600 square feet, both equipped with water hookups, electric service, and charcoal grills for outdoor cooking.
These shelters are perfect for group events such as family reunions, birthday parties, company picnics, and community gatherings. Each shelter has access to nearby restroom facilities with flush toilets. When not reserved, shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Buck Creek State Park surrounds the 2,120-acre C.J. Brown Reservoir and offers additional amenities including a swimming beach, marina with boat rentals, and 10 miles of hiking trails. Note that these are day-use facilities only; the park's main campground is currently closed for renovations through early summer 2026, though family cabins remain available for overnight stays.
Directions
From Springfield, Ohio, take US Route 40 west to the park entrance. Follow Buck Creek Lane toward the boat ramp. For Oak Grove Shelter, turn right at the intersection, then left on the first roadway and follow it to the shelter.
