Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 7:13AM EST by NWS Wilmington OH

7:13 AM — 12:00 PM

Snow showers associated with an arctic front are moving through this morning, providing a quick accumulation of snowfall. With wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph, the snow showers combined with blowing snow are reducing visibility and creating challenging travel conditions. These conditions are most impactful on roads that are more rural and are aligned from north to south. Even after the snow ends, elevated winds will continue to blow snow into the early afternoon. Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

About

Kiser Lake State Park Group Campground provides group camping facilities for youth and adult organizations on the south side of Kiser Lake. The park encompasses 531 acres of rolling wooded hills and diverse wetlands surrounding the scenic 396-acre lake, which is renowned for its clean, clear waters. As a no-motor lake, Kiser Lake offers a quiet atmosphere ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and sailing. The group campground requires reservations, which can be made up to six months in advance through the Ohio State Parks reservation system. The campground provides basic amenities including picnic tables, fire rings, and latrine facilities. A trailer waste station is available for groups needing such services. Beyond camping, the park offers numerous recreational opportunities including fishing, swimming at a 300-foot beach, hiking on six trails, and ten miles of bridle trails. The park also features a marina where kayaks and canoes can be rented, four small launch areas, and a seasonal refreshment stand. The tranquil setting and diverse recreational options make this an ideal destination for organized group outings.
