About

Gigantea Campground offers a rustic camping experience in the Sierra National Forest, positioned just half a mile from the impressive McKinley Grove of Giant Sequoias. The campground's 10 sites are nestled among towering cedar, fir, and sugar pine trees that provide excellent shade throughout the area. The terrain features a mix of slopes and flat areas, creating a natural, undeveloped atmosphere. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire grill, but amenities are intentionally minimal to preserve the rustic character. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility, meaning campers must bring all their own water and remove all trash when they depart. Vault toilets are available on-site. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The location provides access to the spectacular McKinley Grove and its giant sequoias, making it an ideal base camp for those seeking a more primitive camping experience near these ancient giants. Limited supplies and pay showers are available in nearby Dinkey Creek, approximately 15 minutes away.
