About

Gigantea Campground provides a rustic camping experience just half a mile from the McKinley Grove of Giant Sequoias in the Sierra National Forest. The campground sits at approximately 6,400 feet elevation amid cedar, fir, and sugar pine trees that provide excellent shade throughout the camping area. The terrain includes both slopes and flat areas suitable for different camping preferences. This is a primitive, first-come, first-served campground with no reservations accepted. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and grill. Vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. Access to the campground is via paved road with the final stretch on dirt roads through the campground itself. The maximum vehicle length is 35 feet, making it unsuitable for larger RVs. Stays are limited to 14 days, with a maximum of 6 people per site. Pay showers and limited supplies are available in Dinkey Creek, approximately 15 minutes away. The campground typically operates from May through October.
