About

Tatanka Campground is Keyhole State Park's only campground with amenities, featuring 32 sites with electric and water hookups plus an additional 10 sites available through the marina. Named after the Lakota word for buffalo, Tatanka offers modern conveniences including ADA-accessible restrooms with showers, a dump station at the park entrance, and a boat launch. The campground includes group camping sites and picnic shelters with electrical outlets and lighting, making it ideal for family reunions, weddings, and company gatherings. Located on the southeast shore of Keyhole Reservoir on the western edge of the Black Hills, the campground provides direct lake access for boating, water skiing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Keyhole Reservoir is known for producing some of Wyoming's largest fish and attracts bird-watchers with approximately 225 species observed in the area. The park sits between Sundance and Moorcroft, easily accessed from I-90 at exit 165. Reservations are required for all Keyhole State Park campgrounds from mid-May through mid-September. Electric hookups are available year-round, while water hookups are seasonal.
