About

Coulter Bay Campground occupies a scenic spot within Keyhole State Park, nestled among cottonwood trees along Lakeshore Drive with views of Keyhole Reservoir. The campground consists of approximately 12 sites spread between two areas: seven sites in the main Coulter Bay area and five additional sites further down Lakeshore Drive. Some sites offer electric hookups, though water hookups are not available at individual sites. Keyhole Reservoir, created by damming the Belle Fourche River, provides excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming. The Coulter Bay boat ramp with dock offers convenient lake access. Anglers target walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, and yellow perch. The park sits on the western edge of the Black Hills, about 6 miles north of I-90 exit 165 between Sundance and Moorcroft. Facilities include a vault toilet and one ADA-accessible camping pad. The park's dump station is located near the entrance. Two picnic shelters at Coulter Bay are available first-come, first-served. The shower house at Keyhole State Park is currently closed.

Directions

From I-90, take exit 165 (Pine Haven/Keyhole State Park). Travel north 6 miles on Pine Haven Road. The park entrance and headquarters will be on your left. Follow signs to Coulter Bay via Lakeshore Drive.
