About
Kettle River Campground is a peaceful, riverside retreat on the banks of the Kettle River within Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. The campground features 13 reservation-only sites, most positioned directly on the shoreline with scenic views of the river and surrounding landscape. Dense forests of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir provide ample shade throughout the campground. This campground is particularly popular with birders and wildlife enthusiasts. The area hosts a variety of waterfowl, raptors, and bald eagles, while the surrounding forests are home to moose, elk, and deer. Anglers can access the river for shoreline fishing, with species including walleye, bass, rainbow trout, salmon, and sturgeon available. A courtesy dock allows easy river access for canoes and kayaks, though the campground does not have a boat launch. Kettle River Campground typically remains quiet and does not fill often, making it ideal for families seeking a relaxed camping experience. The historic St. Paul's Mission, operated by the National Park Service, is located 7.4 miles south in the town of Kettle Falls, with the scenic Sherman Drive loop nearby. The campground is unstaffed and operates on a reservation-only basis.
