About

Kettle River Campground is a peaceful, reservation-only campground situated on the banks of the Kettle River within Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area in northeastern Washington. The 13 sites are shaded by ponderosa pine and Douglas fir trees, with most positioned along the shoreline offering scenic views of the river and surrounding landscape. This campground is typically quiet and rarely fills, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking solitude. The area is renowned for birding, with a variety of waterfowl and raptors including bald eagles regularly seen. Wildlife such as moose, elk, and deer inhabit the surrounding forests. Anglers can access the Kettle River for shoreline fishing, with species including walleye, bass, rainbow trout, salmon, and sturgeon in the broader Lake Roosevelt waters. A courtesy dock is available, though there is no boat launch at this location. Facilities are primitive with vault toilets and fire rings at each site, but no potable water, hookups, or showers. Campers must pack out all trash. The historic St. Paul's Mission is located about 7 miles south in Kettle Falls, and the scenic Sherman Drive loop is nearby.

Directions

From Kettle Falls, drive north on US 395 and cross Lake Roosevelt over Barneys Bridge. Continue north approximately 6 miles past the bridge, then turn right at the Kettle River Campground sign onto Waterview Drive. The campground is 0.4 miles ahead.
