About
Kettle Falls Locust Grove Group Site is located on the northern section of Lake Roosevelt, a 130-mile lake on the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. The facility features two group campsites set within a scenic grove of locust trees, positioned near the site of Old Kettle Falls, now submerged under 80 feet of water formed by the dam's backwaters. The campground is conveniently located just 0.25 miles from the main Kettle Falls Campground, which provides multi-lane boat launch access to Lake Roosevelt. The lake is fed by glaciers and snow from the Canadian Rockies and offers excellent fishing opportunities for walleye, bass, rainbow trout, salmon and sturgeon. The area is abundant with wildlife including moose, elk, deer and bald eagles. The Kettle Falls area holds significant historical importance related to American Indians and the fur trade era. St. Paul's Mission, managed by the National Park Service, is located about two miles from the campground. Other nearby historic sites include Fort Colville and the Hudson Bay Company Post on the Upper Columbia. The Sherman Pass Loop scenic drive is also accessible from the area. Site A accommodates up to 75 people and 35 vehicles, while Site B accommodates up to 50 people and 25 vehicles.
Directions
The campground is 87 miles north of Spokane, Washington. Take U.S. Highway 395 north to the town of Kettle Falls, turn south on Boise Road at Barney's Bridge and travel 3.5 miles to the campground.
