About
Evans Campground is situated along the northeastern shoreline of Lake Roosevelt, a 130-mile reservoir on the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. The campground's long, narrow orientation allows for clear lake views from every vantage point across its 44 individual campsites. One end features group sites and a boat launch, while the other offers a day-use area with a covered picnic shelter and swim beach. The campground provides ample shade with thick forests of ponderosa pine, douglas fir, and maple trees. The area is abundant with wildlife, including moose, elk, deer, and bald eagles. Lake Roosevelt hosts dozens of fish species such as walleye, bass, rainbow trout, salmon, and sturgeon. The boat launch provides year-round access for boating, fishing, swimming, and water skiing enthusiasts. Campers can enjoy educational ranger programs during the summer season and explore nearby attractions including the historic St. Paul's Mission in Kettle Falls, about eleven miles south. The scenic Sherman Drive loop is also nearby. Much of the lake water originates from glaciers and snow in the Canadian Rockies, though summer temperatures are pleasant for swimming.
Directions
Take Washington State Highway 395 north from Spokane for 70.3 miles to Kettle Falls. Turn right onto WA 25 North and travel approximately 9 miles. Turn left at the Evans Campground sign on the west side of the highway.
