About
Judith Guard Station is a historic ranger station from the early 1900s, designated as a National Historic Site and decorated with historically accurate furnishings and wallpaper. This two-story frame building accommodates up to 8 guests and features propane heating, a propane cookstove, beds, kitchen table with chairs, and cooking utensils. A modern vault toilet is located outside, along with a porch with chairs. The cabin sits at approximately 5,000 feet elevation on the northern banks of the Middle Fork of the Judith River, surrounded by wooded hills of Ponderosa Pine, lodgepole pine, and Douglas fir. Wildlife in the area includes deer, elk, bear, bobcats, and mountain lions. Mandatory bear food storage requirements apply. Guests must bring bedding, food, an ice chest, and garbage bags as there is no electricity or garbage service. A hand-pump well provides drinking water from May through September; winter visitors must bring their own water. The cabin is accessible by highway vehicle except when roads are snow-covered. Parking is limited to 2 vehicles.
