About

Located in the sandstone hills of Jefferson County, Jefferson Lake Campground is part of Jefferson Lake State Park's 962 acres of Appalachian Highlands terrain. The campground serves both family and equestrian campers, offering over 100 sites including electric and non-electric options, all available for tents and trailers. Pets are permitted on all sites. The park centers around a 17-acre lake stocked with largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill, and redear sunfish. Non-motorized boats and electric motors up to 4 horsepower are permitted. Nearly 18 miles of multi-use trails wind through oak and hickory forests, accommodating hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Trails range from easy to difficult, with dedicated horse trails and multi-use paths. Developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park offers year-round recreation including hunting in designated areas, picnicking, and winter activities like cross-country skiing and ice fishing. The campground features restrooms, a dump station, playground, and basketball and volleyball courts.
