About

Jefferson Lake State Park is one of Ohio's quieter parks, spanning 962 acres in Jefferson County near the West Virginia border. The campground caters to tent campers, trailer users, and equestrian visitors with a mix of primitive and electric sites. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with cooking grate. The park centers on an 18-acre lake stocked with bass, bluegill, and catfish. Boating is limited to electric motors and non-powered craft, maintaining the tranquil atmosphere. Over 18 miles of multi-use trails wind through the property for hiking and horseback riding. Additional recreation includes a sand volleyball court and basketball court near the campground. Facilities are basic but functional: vault toilets, water fountains throughout the campground, and an RV dump station. Showers are not available. The campground operates on a walk-in, first-come-first-served basis with self-registration at the camp office, though Rent-A-Camp equipped sites can be reserved in advance.

Directions

From US Route 22, take State Route 43 south. The park entrance is approximately 2 miles south on Township Road 261A. The campground is located at 501 Township Rd 261A, Richmond, Ohio 43944.
