About
Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, located approximately 40 miles from New York City in Yorktown Heights, is a day-use recreation facility that does not provide overnight camping accommodations. The park serves as a popular destination for day-trippers seeking outdoor activities and relaxation. The park's centerpiece is its massive swimming pool, which is twice the size of an Olympic pool and can accommodate 3,500 bathers at once. For water recreation, Mohansic Lake and Crom Pond offer excellent freshwater fishing for bass, perch, and sunfish, with rowboat and paddleboat rentals available seasonally. Visitors with a regional boating permit may launch their own rowboats, canoes, or kayaks. Extensive picnic facilities include three large rentable pavilions and 24 large picnic areas that can accommodate groups of all sizes. The park features sports amenities including two NCAA regulation basketball courts with stadium seating, volleyball nets, softball fields, and a soccer field. A disc golf course offers both 9 and 18-hole options. Winter activities include ice fishing, sledding on the park's hills, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing on the trail system. Food concessions operate seasonally near the pool and basketball courts.
