About
Isaac Creek Campground is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on Claiborne Lake at the Claiborne Lock and Dam in Alabama's southwest Hill Country. The lake encompasses more than 60 miles of the Alabama River, providing extensive opportunities for water-based recreation and wildlife observation. The campground operates year-round with 60 paved sites, all equipped with electric hookups, making it suitable for RVs and trailers seeking a developed camping experience in a natural setting. The campground is well-appointed with modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, and laundry facilities. Recreation infrastructure includes a boat ramp and dock for easy water access, fish cleaning stations, a basketball court, playground, and group picnic shelter. The surrounding forest of hardwood and pine provides shade and natural beauty, with some sites positioned directly along the riverbank or Isaac Creek, and others offering waterfront views. Anglers are drawn to the area's productive waters for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. Boaters enjoy extensive lake access for water sports and exploration. The vast surrounding land managed by the Corps offers bow and shotgun hunting opportunities for whitetail deer, wild turkey, and hog during appropriate seasons. The remote location appeals to birders, naturalists, and those seeking a peaceful retreat. Check-in is at 4 p.m. and check-out at 3 p.m., and alcohol is prohibited on the grounds.
