About

Indian Lake State Park is located on the shores of Indian Lake, five miles west of Manistique in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This 567-acre park is composed of two units, which are 3 miles apart and separated by the lake. Indian Lake, which is 6 miles long and 3 miles wide, is the fourth-largest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula, offering 8,400 acres of water for recreation. The south unit features a modern campground with 145 sites overlooking the lake, offering electrical service including 20/30-amp and some 50-amp sites. Many sites provide waterfront views, and the campground includes accessible sites, pull-through sites, and tent-only options. The west unit features 72 semi-modern campsites in a wooded setting, providing a more rustic camping experience with vault toilets and electrical service. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities including a designated swim beach with shallow water and sandy bottom, a paved boat launch, and excellent fishing for perch, walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, rock bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, sturgeon, and brown trout. Two Civilian Conservation Corps-era picnic shelters are available for reservation, and the park features a quarter-mile paved trail along the lake. Additional amenities include kayak rentals, playground equipment, and seasonal nature programs. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
