About

Independence Creek Campground is a county-operated facility located along Independence Creek in the eastern Sierra Nevada foothills of Inyo County. Accessed via Market Street from Highway 395 in Independence, the campground sits at approximately 4,000 feet elevation and offers a rustic camping experience with creek access and views of the surrounding mountain terrain. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, grills, and fire rings at each site. Potable water is available seasonally but is turned off during winter months. Sites can accommodate RVs up to 30 feet in length, though no hookups are provided. The facility operates on a mixed reservation and first-come, first-served basis through ReserveAmerica. Independence Creek offers fishing opportunities when in season, typically from the last Saturday in April through November 15, with California fishing licenses required for anglers 16 years and older. The campground allows up to six people per site and is dog-friendly with campfires permitted in fire rings only. No shower facilities are available on-site.
