Pembina Gorge State Park is North Dakota's newest and 14th state park, situated in the stunning Pembina River Gorge near Walhalla in Cavalier County. The park encompasses over 2,800 acres of public land featuring steep valley cliffs, isolated prairies, pocketed wetlands, and the largest continuous undisturbed forest in North Dakota. Construction of the park's campground facilities began in 2024 as part of a decade-long planning effort, with funding of approximately $8 million secured through the state legislature. The campground features 55 total units including 50 modern campsites with power and water hookups, 5 primitive walk-in tent sites, and up to 6 all-season full-service cabins. Modern amenities include a comfort station, underground utilities, and paved roads. The park offers exceptional outdoor recreation with over 30 miles of trails open to hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and off-highway vehicles. The multi-use trail system accommodates OHVs up to 60 inches wide including dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and side-by-sides. The Pembina River provides opportunities for kayaking with rentals available on-site. Winter recreation includes groomed trails for non-motorized activities.

Located approximately 8 miles northwest of Walhalla, North Dakota. From Walhalla, travel 1 mile north, 1 mile west, and 0.25 mile north of the Walhalla Country Club to reach the trailhead area.
