About
Hurricane Landing Day Use Area sits on the southern shore of Sardis Lake in the rolling hills of north Mississippi. This Corps of Engineers recreation area provides excellent access to Sardis Lake, which consistently ranks as one of the top crappie fishing destinations in the country. Anglers also pursue catfish and bass in these waters.
The area is characterized by beautiful Osage Orange (Bodock) trees that add unique character to the landscape. A pavilion is available for reservation through Recreation.gov for group gatherings. The surrounding Sardis Lake project encompasses over 98,000 acres of land and water across Panola, Lafayette, and Marshall counties.
Located just 20 minutes from Oxford, Mississippi and the University of Mississippi, Hurricane Landing offers convenient access to lake recreation. The historic town of Holly Springs and I-22 are also nearby. Visitors to the area can also enjoy hunting for deer, turkey, squirrel, waterfowl, and rabbit in designated hunting areas around the lake, as well as hiking and mountain biking trails.
Directions
From I-22 take the Highway 7 south exit at Holly Springs. Follow Highway 7 south for approximately 18 miles and turn right onto Lafayette County Road 108 at Abbeville. Follow County Road 108 for approximately 4.5 miles to Hurricane Landing Recreation Area. From Highway 278 in Oxford, take the Highway 7 north exit and follow Highway 7 north for approximately 10.5 miles. Turn left onto Lafayette County Road 108 at Abbeville. Follow County Road 108 for approximately 4.5 miles to Hurricane Landing Recreation Area.
