Hot Springs State Park Day Use Area

Open — Open year-round for day use only. No overnight camping permitted.

About

Hot Springs State Park Day Use Area in Thermopolis offers visitors access to one of Wyoming's most unique natural features. Over 1.8 million gallons of mineral hot spring water flow over colorful terraces along the Big Horn River every 24 hours at a constant temperature of 128°F. The park includes a free public bath house where water is maintained at 104°F for therapeutic bathing, honoring the treaty with the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes who gifted these springs to the people. The park features 6.2 miles of universally accessible trails and hiking paths, including a suspension footbridge across the Bighorn River that offers unique views of the mineral terraces. Visitors can enjoy fishing, a boat ramp for river access, and beautiful summer flower gardens. The park is home to Wyoming State Parks' central bison herd, which can be viewed from vehicles during daily feedings at 8:30 a.m. in late fall and winter months. Three large group picnic shelters are available by reservation and are popular for events. The park includes comfort stations and is fully accessible. As a day-use only facility, no overnight camping is permitted, but nearby private campgrounds in Thermopolis provide accommodation options.
