About

Holly Flats Campground offers a primitive camping experience in the heart of Cherokee National Forest's Citico Creek region. This first-come, first-served campground is situated along Bald River Road in a remote mountain setting characterized by forested slopes and proximity to excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. The campground serves as a gateway to the Citico Creek area, which is known for its solitude, backcountry experiences, fishing opportunities, and extensive trail systems for hiking and horseback riding. The campground operates seasonally from late spring through late fall and is closed during winter months. Access to Holly Flats requires driving approximately 14 miles upstream from Tellico Plains on Forest Road 210, then turning onto Forest Road 126 for about 6 miles. The remote location provides visitors with a peaceful escape into the forest, though amenities are basic and campers should be prepared for primitive conditions. Payment can be made on-site by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, but visitors should download the app before arrival as cellular service is limited in the area.
