Closed — Currently closed for the winter season. Ferry service to Lucerne operates Friday through Monday only from November through April, limiting access. The campground is typically accessible from late spring through early fall when daily ferry service resumes.

Light to periodically moderate rain is expected for the lower Stehekin Valley this week along with melting snow as temperatures warm into the 40s and 50s. Flows in rivers will increase quickly and reach critical levels. * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues for the lower Stehekin Valley. * WHERE...A portion of North Central Washington, including the following county, Chelan. * WHEN...Until 1100 PM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...When the Stehekin River gauge hits 19.3 feet, water breaches the river bank. At 20 feet, water inundates some properties and overtops the temporary corduroy bridge. Company Creek Road begins to flood in places at the northern end and Battalion Creek culverts are beginning to be overtopped. At 20.5 feet, water begins to damage Wood Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 924 PM PDT, the Stehekin River is at 19.9 feet. Holden Ballpark Campground is a remote wilderness campground nestled in the Railroad Creek drainage, one mile west of Holden Village in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This simple open field campground with 12 sites operates on a first-come, first-served basis and provides a gateway for hikers exploring the Glacier Peak Wilderness. Access to the campground is an adventure in itself, requiring multi-modal transportation. From Chelan, visitors take the Lady of the Lake ferry approximately 40 miles up Lake Chelan to Lucerne Landing. From Lucerne, Holden Village operates a shuttle bus covering the final 11 miles on Forest Service Road 8301. The bus service requires advance reservations and costs $15 round trip or $10 one way. There are no road connections from Chelan to this area, making boat access the only option. The campground sits near the Glacier Peak Wilderness boundary, making it ideal for backpackers and hikers. Facilities are minimal, with flush toilets available but no potable water on-site; campers must treat or filter water from nearby sources. No camping fees are charged, though ferry and bus transportation costs apply. Wilderness regulations are in effect, and the remote location sees light usage, offering solitude for those seeking a true backcountry experience.

From Chelan, take the Lady of the Lake ferry approximately 40 miles uplake to Lucerne Landing. From Lucerne, travel 11 miles on Forest Service Road 8301 via Holden Village shuttle bus to Holden Village. The campground is located one mile west of Holden Village along Holden Road. Ferry reservations recommended through ladyofthelake.com. Bus reservations required through Holden Village at registrar@holdenvillage.org.
