About

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park Campground sits on Michigan's western shore, providing direct access to Lake Michigan beaches and some of the state's most impressive coastal dunes. The campground features approximately 293 sites split across two loops on either side of Little Black Creek. Sites 1-132 in the first loop offer the closest proximity to the beach and trail system, with sites 25-60 being particularly convenient at less than a quarter-mile from Lake Michigan. Nearly all sites have electric hookups, with most offering both 30-amp and 50-amp service. While there are no water or sewer connections at individual sites, the campground provides potable water spigots throughout, flush toilets and hot showers in each loop, and a dump station near the park entrance. Firewood and ice are sold on-site. The park's 10 miles of trails wind through forested dunes to scenic overlooks and the Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center, which interprets the unique ecology of the Lake Michigan dune ecosystem. The beach area welcomes pets on leash everywhere except the designated swim zone.
